The Surprising Reason Phoebe Dynevor Hasn’t Returned to ‘Bridgerton’ | E! News

Phoebe Dynevor, whose breakout performance as Daphne Bridgerton in ‘Bridgerton’ propelled her into the spotlight, explained the simple reason she hasn’t reprised her role on the Netflix drama’s recent seasons. “I just want to say I have not received a call,” she told ‘Collider Ladies Night’ in an interview published April 11, “and when I get that call, I will be there if I can.” After leading the inaugural season of the period drama alongside Regé-Jean Page, the 30-year-old returned briefly in season two. However, as eldest Bridgerton daughter has not reunited with her family onscreen since, Phoebe said, “When the first season came out they didn’t know what they needed to put in place. So we were like the ones that got away I think, in a certain way.” She added, “I can only speak for myself—I would always come back if I was asked.” Full Story:

  1. Of course, I would love to see all of the old couples incorporated more thoroughly into subsequent seasons– but I get that there are a LOT of characters and that it isn't feasible for them to all have sideplots at once. But at the very least, all the siblings (and ideally their spouses) should be at all the dang weddings and funerals. It's unrealistic that they aren't; I don't care about wanting to bring them back when they serve an actual purpose to the story– they should freaking be silent extras in the background of important family events like that, especially when the Bridgertons are built up to be such a close-knit family.

  2. Infuriating. I fully understand the show wanting to turn the focus to the next couples in each new season, but they did that successfully with both Anthony/Kate and Colin/Penelope without fully removing them. They were seen less, but they were still seen.

  3. Daphne appeared in s2 but then when the showrunner changed in s3 and s4 she wasn’t called back, they had all the chance to craft her a storyline in s3 and s4 yet funny enough they seem to have enough time giving plots to other characters who really aren’t that important. For a show titled Bridgerton, we hardly see them after their season finishes or even their own season. Penelope and Colin had limited screen time together in s3 compared to the other pairs. Daphne navigating her way to becoming the Duchess and also a mother could be explored thoroughly in the following season after hers, we could see Kate exploring her heritage more with Anthony if they wanted to do side or b plots why not point it at the Bridgertons? We hardly even see Colin in s4, what about his writing? That whole thing about bringing back Daphne with a storyline is such bs, just tell it outright that they had no plans and tossed the finished pair on the side after their season served its purpose,
